We are two sole practitioners who cooperate to provide excellent legal research, writing, and analysis to our respective law firm clients, sole practitioners, governments, publishers, and other clients in the legal community.
Collectively, we have experience in constitutional law, commercial disputes (tort, contract, and unjust enrichment), class actions, personal injury law, fraud, criminal law, environmental law, regulatory law (including regulatory defence), property rights, jurisdictional issues, administrative proceedings, and commissions of inquiry.
Each of us has clerked at the Supreme Court of Canada, worked at a large national law firm, been counsel for federal and provincial commissions of Inquiry, and assisted lawyers in smaller firms, sole practitioners, and/or not-for-profit legal societies. We both hold graduate degrees in science.
The work we do for our clients includes:
- Researching and analyzing complex legal or factual issues;
- Drafting submissions for tribunals, Chambers, trials, and appeals (leave applications and responses, motions, and factums);
- Preparing legal memoranda and opinion letters;
- Drafting materials for legal publishers;
- Editing legal submissions (both substantive and copy editing);
- Developing and implementing legal writing and editing plans (outlines, style guides, work plans, etc.) for complex proceedings where multiple lawyers or authors are contributing to joint submissions; and
- Other litigation support as needed (e.g., preparing factual or evidence summaries, witness preparation, discoveries, mediation briefs, etc.).
